Africa Soccer ZAMBIA : Holders Nkana FC stun runaway leaders Zesco

Zambia Super League defending champions Nkana FC boosted their chances of avoiding relegation after stunning runaway leaders, Zesco United, 1-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Lusaka on Wednesday.

Alex Ng’onga scored the only goal of the game to build on the one he chalked over the weekend in Nkana’s 2-0 win over Power Dynamos.

Nkana remain second from bottom with 28 points from 26 games, but they have a game in hand compared to bottom-placed Kiwe United who have a meagre 13 points.

Zesco still lead the the 16-member log table with 55 points from 26 games, six points ahead of Zanaco who beat Power Dynamos 2-1 courtesy of Moses Phiri’s 24th and 52nd minute strikes also on Wednesday.

Linos Makwaza scored for Dynamos with seven minutes to full time and the result makes it back to back defeats for the team which has since sent its coach Perry Mutapa on an administrative leave.

Assistant Coach, Masautso Tembo has been appointed to act as Head Coach for Dynamos.

In other games, veteran striker James Chamanga’s 75th minute solitary strike for Red Arrows left Napsa Stars FC stuck in the relegation zone.
