Southern Africa MALAWI : 6-star Bullets dim TN Stars, Nomads win away

TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets bounced back from the previous week’s setback to hand TN Stars a 6-0 punishment at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday afternoon.

Substitute Zicco Mkanda scored twice to join strike partner Hassan Kajoke, midfielders Chimwemwe Idana, McFarlen Mgwira and defender Gomezgani Chirwa on the scoresheet.

The win took Bullets to within six points of leaders Silver Strikers who were not in action on Saturday while Stars remain on 10th place with 13 points from 15 games.

The 14-time record league champions, Bullets have 29 points from 15 games behind Silver’s 35 points, the team that beat the holders 1-0 the previous week.

Elsewhere, Bullets’ cross-town rivals, Be Forward Wanderers chalked an away morale-boosting 2-1 win at Civil Service United in Lilongwe to take their tally to 22 points from 15 games.

Wanderers are on position seven, thanks to goals from new signing Vitumbiko Kumwenda and Isaac Kaliyati.

Seasoned striker Innocent Tanganyika scored for Civil who have now suffered their second defeat in 15 games and they lie third with 25 points.

Down the ladder, Mzuzu Warriors moved off the foot of the table to 14th place with 14 points after defeating Kamuzu Barracks 1-0 courtesy of Shelton Banda’s strike.

Mighty Tigers anchor the 16-team table with 11 points.
