CAF Champions League Al Ahly Coach Pitso Mosimane Criticized Despite Good Results

Al Ahly put one foot in the Champions League semi-finals. The Red Devils beat Sundowns in the first leg of the quarter-finals. They won thanks to goals from Taher Mohamed Taher and Salah Mohsen.

However, many criticized the Reds’ performance during the game. They labelled it as too conservative, which nearly cost them the game, if it wasn’t for goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy’s brilliant performance.

Since joining Al Ahly from Mamelodi Sundowns, Mosimane has been heavily criticized due to his side’s ‘unattractive’ style of football. However, he proved on many occasions that he’s able to get the job done. He has helped lift the CAF Champions League trophy and the Egypt Cup while finishing third in the Club World Cup.

This didn’t stop Abdelhamid Hassan from joining many of his fellow colleagues in expressing his dissatisfaction with the South African’s impact on the team.

To be completely honest, looking at Al Ahly’s performance, he doesn’t have the capabilities to be the team’s head coach. At the end he does get the results you want. But he doesn’t add anything or performances are mediocre.” He told OnTime Sport TV.

Al Ahly will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the second-leg on May 22. Game to take place at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium, in Pretoria. And they are expected to remain two days. And they then after travel to Qatar to face RS Berkane in the CAF Super Cup game.
