CAF Champions League Al Ahly Veteran Defender Saad Samir Available Against Mamelodi Sundowns

Al Ahly will play against Mamelodi Sundowns in their CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg on Saturday, 22 May. And The Egyptian champions have confirmed that veteran defender Saad Samir has recovered from an injury to take part in the encounter.

Samir suffered an adductor muscle injury which forced him to remain on the sidelines for a couple of weeks.

Nonetheless, he was included in Al Ahly’s squad which traveled to South Africa to face Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 32-year-old has been training with Ali Maaloul, who also just recovered from his hamstring injury. And he joined the team in their training session on Thursday after undergoing a medical check-up, according to the Al Ahly website.

Al Ahly beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 in the first leg in Cairo last weekend thanks to goals from Taher Mohamed Taher and Salah Mohsen.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly will clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria. Game to kick off at 13:00 GMT
