Africa Soccer ZAMBIA : Sakala nets brace, receives rousing send-off

Zambian striker Fashion Sakala scored a brace then received a rousing send off from KV Oostende fans as he played his last home game for the Belgian side on Wednesday.

The Rangers FC-bound Sakala played his last game at Oostende Diaz Arena when they drew 2-2 against KV Mechelen on Wednesday.

Sakala made sure he bowed out in style as he scored Oostende’s opener barely after five minutes.

Oostende continued to pile the pressure on the visitors.

Eventually, Sakala emerged in the picture again to grab his second goal, thanks to an assist from Ndicka.

The Zambian came close to grabbing a hat-trick but Mechelen stood firm at the back to prevent further damage.

In fact, Mechelen should have scored earlier but their effort hit the post.

Soon, half-time ended 2-0 in favour of Oostende.

The visitors upped the ante in the second-half as they scored through Druijf in the 47th minute before Malinwa levelled matters later on.

Sakala recived a rapturous round of applause from the home fans minutes before the final whistle.

In reaction, Sakala tweeted:  “I have said bye to the stadium of KVO DIAZ ARENA after playing my last home game with great memories and it will always have a special place in my heart.

“I am very happy and proud to become the first KVO player to score 16 goals in one season. Thank you so much for the support and I really appreciate.FS10 dreams don’t die.”

It was also the last game for Kevin Vandendriessche who will join KV Kortijik.
