Africa Soccer CHIBUKU CUP : Domestic football back in Zimbabwe

The ground breaker for the 2020/21 domestic football season in Zimbabwe starts today, Saturday, with Chibuku Super Cup games.

The knockout tournament involves 18 Premier Soccer League teams that have been divided into four groups.

The tournament, bankrolled to the tune of US$375 000, marks the return of domestic football in Zimbabwe after a 12-month Covid-19 induced break.

Group One comprises Dynamos, Caps United, Yadah FC, ZPC Kariba, Herentals and Harare City.

Group Two has holders Highlanders, Chicken Inn, Bulawayo Chiefs and Bulawayo City.

Black Rhinos were drawn in Group Three featuring Manica Diamonds, Tenax and Cranborne Bullets.

Group Four has Ngezi Platinum Stars, Whawha, FC Platinum and Triangle United.

Group winners and runners-up will advance to the quarter-finals.

The games are taking place at National Sports Stadium (Harare), Bulawayo’s Barbourfields Stadium, Mandava (Zvishavane) and Sakubva (Mutare).

The actual PSL season is scheduled to kick off in July.
