Simba SC coach Didier Gomes has said his Tanzanian team will bounce back stronger to next season’s CAF Champions League.
The Frenchman said this after Simba beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Dar es Salaam.
Simba lost the Champions League quarter-final slot 4-3 on aggregate following a 4-0 drubbing in the first leg in South Africa.
Gomes said Simba had learned a lesson and next season they will bounce back.
The Frenchman attribited the away heavy loss to failure to ‘block’ leading to conceding a large number of goals.
“We had goals to reach the semi-finals but it failed. We have learned and if we get a chance to participate next season, we will be better,” Gomes told Simba website.
Gomes praised his players for fighting the entire 90 minutes despite the first-leg setback.
“The players fought for the team, they did everything for the team but luck was not on our side and I was really proud to work with them,” he said.
Simba won the game courtesy of John Bocco double and one strike from Clatous Chama.
