Africa Soccer CAF CL : Hunt focuses on semis clash with Wydad Casablanca

Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has said he is now focusing on the remaining three games of the CAF Champions League after reaching the semi-finals.

It was history just to get into the group. This is not for me. It’s for the Club. We’ve got three league games left, so we have to concentrate on those games now,” Chiefs website quotes Hunt saying.

Chiefs sneaked through to the last-four stage after beating Tanzania’s Simba SC 4-3 on aggregate over two legs.

The Soweto giants beat Simba 4-0 at home the previous week and endured some nervy moments when they lost 3-0 away in Dar es Salaam.

Hunt, who has been under pressure due to the team’s under performance in the DStv Premiership, said reaching the last-four was a milestone.

There was no danger for almost 24– 25 minutes. They scored and then got a second one which made it a little bit difficult. They got a third and we defended for the last bit of time,” he is quoted saying.

Chiefs face Wydad Casablanca in Morocco on the weekend of June 18 2021, with the return game in South Africa a week later.

Chiefs beat Wydad in South Africa then lost to the Moroccans away in the group stages.
