Africa Soccer DSTV PREMIERSHIP : Coach Eric Tinkler reunites with Cape Town City FC

South Africa’s Cape Town City FC have announced the return of coach Eric Tinkler to the DStv Premiership club.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder has replaced Dutchman Jan Olde Riekerink.

Cape Town City is delighted to confirm the appointment of Eric Tinkler as new first team head coach on a four year contract. The history maker, officially returns to the Mother City,” Cape Town City tweeted @CapeTownCityFC

Tinkler is credited with earning City their first ever silverware—the Telkom Knockout in 2017.

He then won the MTN8 with SuperSport the following season.

Now, on his return Tinkler will lead City into the last two games of the season.

City are on position seven with 38 points from 28 games.

He joined the club upon its inception in the year 2017 before he left for SuperSport United then Maritzburg United and Chippa United.

Tinkler was part of the golden generation of South Africa team that won the Africa Cup of Nations title in 1996.

He takes over from Riekerink who left the club after being placed on an administrative leave a fortnight ago following a run of poor results.

The Dutchman had replaced Benni McCarthy at the Cape Town City side in 2019 after the former Bafana Bafana leading striker was sacked.
