Enyimba Football Club has confirmed the departure of their forward Samson Obi who joined Libyan side  Alnser Club of Benghazi.

Obi joined Alnser signing a  two-year contract as the club hope to strengthen their squad ahead next season.

The 24-year-old joined the People’s Elephant at the start of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) season.

He played a vital role as the People’s Elephant reached the quarter-final of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

A powerful and pacy forward who loves running at defenders, Obi made a remarkable impact on the team in his short stay in Aba.

Reacting to the transfer,  the Chairman of Enyimba, Felix Anyansi Agwu described Obi as a talented player.

He also wished him well in his new home.

“Samson Obi’s contribution to Enyimba was immense and we wish him very well in his new club. 

“He is a talented player and his star will shine brighter from here on. 

“We believe that he will become a good ambassador of Enyimba and we pray for the best for him.”

The Al Nasr new signing received a surprise welcome from supporters of the club and described the moment as an exciting one.

“I played in many clubs but I have never seen such this fans, they seem very passionate about football, even though I don’t understand what they are saying, but their songs make me very excited”.

Obi who was received by Al Nasr supporters said he was excited to get such a warming welcome.
