Ivorian defender Eric Bailly and Nigerian up-and-coming striker Shola Shoretire have made the final 26-member squad for the Europa League final against Villarreal in Poland on Wednesday.
Bailly and Shoretire impressed in United’s final Premier League game of the season on Sunday when they beat Wolves 2-1.
It, therefore, comes as no surprise that the duo has made the cut for United’s squad.
“Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have competed for the two centre-back spots in recent games and all travel to Poland in the hope of being selected by Solskjaer,” United website reports.
“Youngsters Amad, Anthony Elanga and Shola Shoretire impressed during Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Wolves and, with Solskjaer able to name 12 substitutes in Gdansk—five of which he can use in normal time—all are in with a chance of experiencing their first European final.”
The squad left for Poland on Monday evening ahead of the final scheduled for Gdansk Stadium.
United are chasing a second Europa League title having won it in 2017 under the reign of Jose Mourinho.
Conspicuously missing from the squad is French striker Anthony Martial while captain Harry Maguire, who missed our last four games due to an injury, has been selected.
