RC Lens have signed Gael Kakuta on a permanent deal. The DR Congo international, who spent the 2020-21 season on-loan from Amiens, was key to Lens finishing seventh in the French Ligue 1.
Lens have subsequently activated a €5m option to buy the attacking midfielder who has signed a contract until June 2023.
“I am very happy to continue my Racing adventure. I knew coming back to my favorite club was the right choice. And everything turned out very well.” Said Kakuta, who came through the youth ranks at Lens before joining Chelsea in 2007.
“I had a lot of fun playing with this group. And I’m sure we still have great things to do in the future. I hope that we will continue to perform well, but this time with our supporters in the stadium. Because sincerely, when we play with the Blood and Gold, it is partly for that. I can’t wait! ” He continued.
Kakuta scored 11 goals and assisted a further five in 35 league appearances for Lens last season.
