Africa Soccer ZAMBIA: Micho optimistic on Zambia-born Dutch midfielder

Zambia coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has said he is optimistic on the prospect of Dutch midfielder Guus Til accepting the invitation to represent Chipolopolo in future.

Micho confirmed to have approached Til to consider playing for the country of his birth, Zambia, but he declined the offer.

He was responding to a tweet from African Insider suggesting that Til might rescind his decision in future in the event that he does not a earn a cap with The Netherlands.

Guus Til, the young Dutch midfielder, was born in Zambia. As it stands, the Zambian FA have approached him but he’s refused a call-up. Should the Netherlands make it clear to him they’re not interested, we may see the Spartak player in a future AFCON!,” African Insider tweeted.

Til was born in 1997 in Samfya and now plays for SC Frieberg in Germany, on loan from Spartak Moscow of Russia.

Some African national teams such as those of Comoros Islands and Cape Verde have build their squads around players from Diaspora.
