Zimbabwe’s up-and-coming footballers—Ethan Kuchosa and Jimiel Takunda Chikukwa—will leave Leeds United Academy in England.

In a statement, Leeds say the two players will be allowed to leave the developmental structures of the Premier League side after the expiry of their contracts.

The following scholars will be released by Leeds United when their contract expires: Emmanuel Amissah, Jimiel Chikukwa, William Fewster, Ethan Kachosa, Samuel Leverett, Aaron Pilkington, Maximus Rigby, Cooper Skerry,” Leeds website reports.

We would like to express our thanks to those players who will leave the club in the coming weeks and we wish them every success in the future.

Reports in Zimbabwe say the full-back Kuchosa is set to sign for League One giants, Sunderland.

Kuchosa was named Leeds Academy Players’ Player of the Year 2019.

On the other hand, Chikukwa has been linked with a move to a number of clubs in England.

Chikukwa is Leeds Under-18’s leading scorer with five goals in 17 games.

The player’s father, Chikukwa Senior told Zimbabwe’s The Herald that his son was likely to clinch a better deal elsewhere.

Jimiel’s two-year contract is expiring in June and as we speak there are a number of clubs that have enquired about him to sign up his professional contract. Some of the clubs are in the Premiership, Championship and League One,” Chikukwa Senior told The Herald
