Africa Soccer DSTV PREMIERSHIP : Kaizer Chiefs hire former Bafana Bafana coach as Head of Technical, Youth

Kaizer Chiefs have hired former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki as Head of Technical and Youth Academy.

Chiefs have recruited the 51-year-old barely a few days after parting ways with coach Gavin Hunt.

Now, the struggling Soweto giants’ chairperson Kaizer Motaung Senior told the club’s website he believes Ntseki is the right man to revamp the team’s football development structures.

Motaung said Ntseki will oversee all technical matters of the club for the three years, with a two-year option of his contract.

“We are delighted to have Molefi Ntseki at Kaizer Chiefs. Molefi comes at the right time as we implement changes that we believe are necessary for the Club as we go into the future. We strongly believe that we have appointed the right person for the position as he is someone who has really worked at all stages of football, from school level, youth structures and all our national teams,” Chiefs website quotes Motaung saying

Ntseki will work with senior team coaching panel, be an advisor on all technical operations, develop strategy for the senior team, academy and reserve side and oversee the scouting department.

“We want to make progress in the way we run our football technical operations at all levels,” adds Chairman Motaung. “We also do not want to lose all the good lessons we have learned in as far as our Youth Development Academy is concerned. Kaizer Chiefs has seen good players come through our youth structures and we would like for that to continue,” Motaung added.

Our youth coaches have done a tremendous job over the years and we have seen them identify and promote great talent for Chiefs and the national junior teams. It’s important that we keep the Chiefs DNA intact and uniformity to ensure we hire the right people who will be the custodians of what we are building.”

Molefi, who will commence his duties on Wednesday, was sacked soon after failing to steer Bafana Bafana to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.

South African Football Association hired Belgian Hugo Broos as Ntseki’s replacement.

Initially, Broos was reported to have wanted to recruit Ntseki as his deputy but SAFA dismissed such reports and hired Helman Mkhalele as the assistant coach.
