Nigeria NPFL Matchday 24: Warri Wolves Down Again As Akwa Regain Top Spot

Warri Wolves suffered their first loss under new head coach Ortega Deniran after losing 1-0 to Katsina United in Matchday 24 of the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL).

The Seasiders since the arrival of Deniran has won one and draw one game.

However, their third game was a 1-0 loss to Katsina United as they plunged deep into the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, at the Nest of Champions, Akwa United defeated Kwara United 2-1 to return to top of the NPFL summit.

 38th minute goal from Ubong Friday gave Akwa United the lead before Nasiru Jubril doubled the advantage in the 69th minute.

Wasiu Alalade scored in the 80th minute to reduce the deficit for the Afonja Warriors.

Akwa United with the victory have now gone 1e matches unbeaten in the NPFL.

At the New Jos Stadium, Kano Pillars played goalless draw against Plateau United.

Enyimba played out a goalless draw against Heartland FC in the Oriental derby.

In the second Oriental derby between FC Ifeanyiubah and Rangers also settled for a 0-0 draw.

At the Soccer Temple, Agege MFM pipped visiting Dakkada FC 1-0 courtesy of an Oladapo Alabi 68th minute goal.

Sunshine Stars poor result continued with a 2-1 loss at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi at the hands of Lobi Stars.

Ugonna Uzochukwu gave Sunshine Stars the lead just 15 minutes of play.

The host rallied through a John Lazarus and Ossy Martins goals to complete the comeback.

The loss have now seen Sunshine Stars gone 15 games without a win.
