Italy legendary striker Alessandro Altobelli has congratulated Al Ahly on their CAF Super Cup win. And the former beIN Sports pundit has compared the Egypt’ giants to great Italian clubs.

Last Friday, Al Ahly won their seventh African Super Cup after beating Morocco’s RS Berkane. This marked the Reds’ second African title of the 2020-2021 season, after having lifted the CAF Champions League trophy back in November.

They now have 22 continental titles to their name. And they are just four trophies away from surpassing Real Madrid’s record of 26 trophies.

Altobelli congratulated Al Ahly on their exploit. And he expressed his love for the team and Egyptian football.

“I love Al Ahly. And it is an honor for me to get the Red shirt and put it on the walls at my house.” The 1982 World Cup winner told Al Ahly TV.

“Al Ahly is a legendary club, much like Inter Milan or Juventus.“I congratulate Al Ahly for winning the African Super Cup. And Al Ahly will surpass Real Madrid as the team with the most continental trophies.

“I follow Egyptian football. And I adore Aboutrika, Hazem Emam and all the Egyptian players I met when I analyzed matches. I want to wish Egyptian football and the Al Ahly the best of luck.” He concluded.
