Egypt Egypt U23 Coach To Announce Squad For Olympic Games In Tokyo On 30 June

Egypt’s U23 team coach Shawky Gharib announced that he will unveil his final squad for the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo on 30 June.

I will announce my final squad for the Olympic Games on 30 June, including 18 players alongside another four players as substitutes.” Gharib told a television programme.

The Egyptian crew is set fly to Tokyo on 16 July to be join the health bubble system before starting the tournament.

We will fly to Tokyo on 16 July as FIFA finally set up the traveling date. And we will arrive on 17, five days before playing the first game in the tournament.” The 62-year-old U 23 national football team coach said.

We will join the health bubble after passing all the medical measures.” Gharib said.

I will hold a meeting with Ahly officials after they play the semifinals of the African Champions League to arrange the names that I need to join the final squad as I have six players from Ahly in my squad.” Gharib said.

I will also hold a meeting with Pyramids FC officials as I have another three players from their squad to join the Olympic team.” The U 23 national team coach added.

The 2020 Olympic Games, which were postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic last year,  are scheduled for take-off in late July.

Egypt, the 2012 Olympic Games quarter-finalists, open their campaign against Spain on 22 July. They will next face Argentina three days later and Australia on 28 July.

The young pharaohs booked their place at the Olympic Games after winning the U-23 Nations Cup on home soil in the November of last year.
