Africa Soccer MALAWI : Bullets go level with leaders Silver Strikers

TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets joined leaders Silver Strikers at the summit of the log table on Sunday.

The 14-time champions beat relegation-bound Mighty Tigers 2-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets are level with leaders Silver Strikers who have 39 points from 18 games.

Striker Hassan Kajoke and midfielder Chimwemwe Idana scored for Bullets.

Precious Chipungu scored the consolation for Tigers who remain bottom on 14 points from 18 games, one point ahead of second-from-bottom Mzuzu Warriors.

The holders have played one more game than Silver whose game against Red Lions was halted on Saturday.

Lions walked off the pitch late in the game in protest over the referee’s decision to award Silver a penalty.

Lions are on position 10 with 25 points, four points ahead of ninth-placed Kamuzu Barracks FC.

The Warriors, in another game played on Sunday, settled for a 1-1 draw with Chitipa United at Mzuzu Stadium in the Northern Region.

Suzgo Mwakisinga scored for Warriors whereas Chitipa got their reply from Alex Benson.

Elsewhere, female coach Karen Chawula is still searching for her first win at Ntopwa FC after they lost 1-2 to TN Stars on Sunday.

Alfred Chizinga scored twice for Stars whereas Kondwani Saizi provided the only reply for the hosts on Sunday.

Ntopwa are winless in four games under the reign of Chawula whose charges are third from bottom with 15 points from 19 matches.

In another game, Mafco and Karonga United negotiated for a goalless draw also on Sunday
