Euro 2020 The Netherlands Defeat Ukraine In Five Goals Thriller

The Netherlands got off to a winning start in the Euro 2020 following a hard fought 3-2 victory over Ukraine in Amsterdam.

After both teams failed to score a goal in the first half, fans at the Johan Cruyff Stadium were thrilled to a scintillating give goals thriller.

Georginio broke the deadlock for the Oranje Boys in the 52nd minute before Wout Weghorst’s instinctive finish doubled the lead.

Ukraine did not relent as they kept pushing for a goal and then did get the first courtesy of a a long range strike from Andriy Yarmolenko In the 75th minute.

Four minutes later, Roman Yaremchuk header levelled matters for Andriy Shevchenko side.

However, Dumfries’ excellent 85th minute header, after substitute Nathan Ake’s cross, earned the Netherlands victory on their return to the major tournament stage after a seven-year absence.

Both teams will back in action on Thursday. While Ukraine take on North Macedonia in Bucharest as the Netherlands entertain Austria in Amsterdam.
