Ghana failed to score a single goal in their recent friendly matches against their African rivals, Morocco and Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars suffered a 1-0 loss to the Atlas Lions of Morocco, before drawing with Ivory Coast’s Elephants.

And former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes that i twill be difficult for the Black Stars to find a replacement for Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan has not played for the African Giants since the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals. And he is the Black Stars’ all-time top scorer with 51 goals.

“What we need now is a typical striker as I feel Jordan Ayew is more comfortable playing behind a striker.” Badu said on Ghana Football.

“Everyone knows we miss a striker like Asamoah Gyan. We may not get someone who has a potential like his. Gyan will be very difficult to replace.”

Gyan, who is currently on the books of Ghanaian Premier League side Legon Cities, represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.

With six goals, the 35-year-old marksman is the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.

He has also represented Ghana at the 2004 Summer Olympics and in seven Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Ghana’s next matches will be against Ethiopia and South Africa in the second round of Africa’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September 2021.
