Netherlands beat North Macedonia 3-0 to progress to the last 16 with a 100 per cent record.

They look a great team going forward. But perhaps a little shaky at the back. Depay and Wijnaldum look a real threat in attack. A team to watch, for sure.

And North Macedonia for their part have said goodbye to the competition. Playing at their first major tournament as an independent nation, they won two of their opening three World Cup qualifiers, including a stunning 2-1 away upset of Germany in March. But they have been unable to replicate that form at the tournament.

They showed glimpses of it and a fighting spirit which won over their raucous fans in two games in Bucharest. And coach Igor Angelovski was upbeat ahead of today’s clash, which was veteran Goran Pandev call time on his long international career.
