Botola Pro Botola Pro League Side RS Berkane Have Appointed Florent Ibenge

RS Berkane have been struggling this season after an impressive 2019-2020 season that saw them finish third in the Moroccan league and win the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Oranges were unable to qualify for the knockout stages of the Confederation Cup after finish third in their group. And they are currently on track to missing out on continental football next season.

In an attempt to salvage what’s left of the season, they decided to appoint former Congo national team manager Florent Ibenge.

The 59-year-old started off his managerial career in France in 2008 with ES Washquehal and then SC Douai. In 2012, he had a brief spell in China with Shanghai Shenhua. But after only five games in charge, he returned to his home country where he had the strenuous task of simultaneously coaching AS Vita Club and DR Congo.

Ibenge was successful with both teams. He guided DR Congo to a third place finish in the 2015 AFCON, while also lifting two Linafoot league titles and one Super Cup.

Ibenge has now signed a two-year contract with RS Berkane after having resigned from his position at Vita Club. And the club will hope that he will be able to help them climb up the league table and join the top three.

His first game in charge will be next Thursday, July 8 against seventh place IR Tanger.
