Dstv Premiership Chippa United Newly Appointed Coach Gavin Hunt Has Chosen His Perfect Assistant

Former  Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt joined Chippa United earliy this week. And the newly appointed coach has himself moved swiftly to find a perfect assistant coach to help him at the club, Dane Klate.

Besides enjoying great success with Klate as one of his favourite “sons” at SuperSport United back in the day, Klate himself has got stuck into the coaching side of things after his retirement.

Klate took up a role as Chippa’s MDC side’s head coach in a six month stint. After leaving that role, he went on to pursue his UEFA coaching badges. And he has been hands on with youth development football in his hometown.

According to Kickoff, Hunt has indeed recommended Klate’s name to fill that role at the club, even though talks about such an appointment are yet to formally take place with Chippa

Klate being Gqeberha-born, having worked in the club’s development structures and having one of the best footballing brains would have undoubtedly influenced this decision from Hunt. Klate having won 14 major honours during his playing days which saw him playing for the likes of SuperSport, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits (where he again teamed up with Hunt). And Chippa would’ve not hurt his cause either.

It now remains to be seen if Chippa will agree with Hunt’s recommendation, with the Bidvest Wits coach looking to possibly replicate what he did upon his appointment at Chiefs, when he in turn appointed ex-players Arthur Zwane and Dillon Shephard as his trusted assistant coaches.
