Highly-rated Ghanaian left-back Gideon Mensah is close to joining French top-flight side Girondins de Bordeaux as the club is on the verge of reaching an agreement with Red Bull Salzburg.

According to wordly-known journalist Fabrizio Romano, Gideon Mensah is set to be the first signing of new Bordeaux president Gerard Lopez.

This, after the club continues to push for an agreement with the Austrian Bundesliga side to release their player.

The Italian transfer window specialist further added that the 23-year-old will join Bordeaux on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Mensah spent last season out on loan at Portuguese top-flight side Vitoria Guimarães where he featured in 23 matches.

Should his loan to Bordeaux materialized, he will join Ghanaian players the likes of John Boye, Alexander Djiku and newcomer Kamaldeen Sulemana in Ligue 1.
