African players abroad Super Eagles Star Terem Moffi Elected Lorient’s Ligue 1 Player Of The Season

Readers of Ouest France have voted Super Eagles star Terem Moffi as Lorient’s Ligue 1 player for last season. The Nigerian international won the award despite only signing for Les Merlus from Kortrijk in October– two months after last season’s Ligue 1 campaign had started.

It’s a deserved award for the 21-year-old, who was one of the revelations in the French top-flight last season, even though he had a mixed start.

Moffi scored on his debut for Lorient. But he failed to score again in the next two months. However, at the turn of the year, he went on a brilliant run of form with 13 league goals to finish with 14 goals overall.

His goal proved crucial as Lorient managed to avoid the drop. Moffi’s display also earned him a national team call up, winning his first two Super Eagles caps in June’s back-back friendly games against Cameroon.

The ex-Kortrijk striker has already been linked with a move to Galatasaray. But he is only focused on Lorient at the moment.
