Nigeria Tokyo 2020: Brumes Ends Nigeria’s 13 Years Olympic Medal Wait

Ese Brume became the first Nigerian to win an Olympic medal in athletics  after 13 years as she claimed a bronze in the early hours of Tuesday.
Brume in an exciting long jump at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games finished third place tied with Brittney Reese of the United States.
A thrilling jump saw Brume jumped 6.97 in her first attempt while her opponents Malaika Mihamo and Ivana Spanovic both opened with 6.83m and 6.71m respectively.

From then, the lead was changed with each jumps frequently between Reese and Brume while reigning world champion, Mihambo, was placed third going into the final round
However, Mihambo settled the deal with her last leap as she leaped 7.00 meters to finish ahead of Spanovic and Brume.
Brume and Reese tied on 6.97 but the American took the silver owing to her second-best jump of 6.95 which was five centimetres longer than Brume’s 6.90.
