Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has signed a four-year contract extension with Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam on Wednesday afternoon.

The 21-year old and his club reached an agreement to extend his deal amid links with Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam as Andre Onana is close to a departure.

Okoye impressed his officials who decided to hand him a long-term deal as he is still young.

“Sparta Rotterdam and Maduka Okoye have agreed to a contract extension. The 21-year-old goalkeeper signs a new four-season contract, following which he is stranded at Het Kasteel until 2025”, the club announced on their website.

The eight-time Super Eagles capped also expressed delight after signing the contract and expects to write his name in the history book of Sparta Rotterdam and Eredivisie as well after saving 10 clean sheets in 28 appearances last season.

“When I signed with Sparta, I did so with clear goals. I wanted to develop further and become the first goalkeeper of the Eredivisie and the Super Eagles”, Okoye said.

“So after the first season I can’t help but be satisfied, but I’m definitely not done here yet. I really enjoy my stay in Sparta and I feel appreciated by my teammates and supporters.
