FIFA World Cup QATAR 2022 : Ambitious Sudan to camp in Dubai ahead of World Cup qualifiers

Sudan national football team will camp in the United Arab Emirates to prepare for next month’s Fifa World Cup qualifiers for Africa.

Cecafa website quotes Sudan Football Association assistant general secretary Isam Shaban saying the national team will camp in Dubai between August 20 and 28 2021.

As an Association, we have decided that the team camps in Dubai and flies straight to Morocco for the game on September 3rd. We are also trying to see that we have some friendly matches,”  Shaban said.

Sudan will open their qualifying race in the World Cup qualifiers away in Morocco in the first week of September in Group I.

The group also comprises Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

Hubert Velud is the coach for Sudan who have never qualified for the World Cup finals, but came so close to reaching the 1970 World Cup held in Mexico.

The current generation of players has also showed promise after beating Chad courtesy of Ramadan Agab’s hat-trick to reach the second round of the qualifiers.

Agab told Fifa website recently that he believes Sudan can qualify for the World Cup finals.

“The Sudanese fans get behind us by coming to the stadium in their thousands. They always support us and believe in us, and we want to fulfil their ambitions. We need to win on home soil and obtain good results in our away games. This will boost our confidence to continue a campaign we expect to be very difficult, but we’re ready for the challenge,” he said.
