Malawi FAM re-advertises post of technical director

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has re-advertised the vacant post of Technical Director (TD) after being dissatisfied with the number of the initial applicants for the position.

The association has since re-advertised the post on its website stipulating the qualifications and experience they required from the potential suitor.

Among others, FAM wants the TD to be capable of developing “strategy over defined years in order to improve the game of football at all levels….advise the FA on all matters related to the effective development of football…maintain a close and harmonious working relationship with Cosafa, CAF and Fifa.”

The desired candidate must be a holder of “at least a pro-Football Coaching licence and a degree in Sports Manage with at least 5 years’ experience in football development strategy models.”

None of the coaches in Malawi holds  a pro-licence and in Africa, there are a few who possess such a qualification.

FAM wants a replacement for seasoned coach John Kaputa whose tenure ended in June this year.

Kaputa was at the helm for eight years after succeeding Jack Chamangwana, now deceased, in 2013.

Before Chamangwana, the TDs was Eddingtone Ng’onamo.

However, the work of most TDs in Malawi is affected by limited financial support that makes it difficult for them to implement their programmes.
