FIFA World Cup Peter Shalulile headlines Namibia’s squad for World Cup qualifiers

South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has been named in the 32-member preliminary squad for Namibia’s Brave Warriors ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers.

Namibia caretaker coach Bobby Samaria has included Shalulile on the list that includes Egypt-based Benson Shilongo (Ismaily), South Africa-based Baroka FC’s Joslin Kamatuka, Deon Hotto (Orlando Pirates), Virgil Vries (Swallows FC), Denzil Haoseb (Polokwane City) and Gebhardt Ananias (Baroka).

Namibia Football Association has released the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors squad through its website.

Local-based players will start training over the weekend and a team of 28 players will be named for the camp in South Arica from 26 August. Petrus Shitembi and Ryan Nyambe are ruled out due to injuries, Samaria reveals,” the website reports.

Namibia will start camp training on Friday to prepare for the World Cup qualifying match for Group H against Congo Brazzaville on September 2 and away in Togo three days later.

The match will take place at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg after the venue in Namibia was declared unfit for the match.

The group also comprises Senegal who Namibia will meet away on October 6 then entertain them in South Africa on October 10 2021.

Namibia will wind up their qualifying matches against Congo and Togo between November 13 and 16 2021.

Defenders: Kennedy Amutenya, Riaan Hanamub, Ivan Kamberipa, Gebhardt Ananias, Larry Horaeb, Teberius Lombardt, Approcius Petrus, Denzil Haoseb, Charles Hambira and Immanuel Heita

Midfielders: Dynamo Fredericks, Wendell Rudath, Alfeus Handura, Manfred Starke, Wangu Gome, Deon Hotto, Absalom Iimbondi, Wesley Katjiteo, Marcel Papama, Prins Tjiueza and Willy Stephanus

Forwards: Elmo Kambindu, Issaskar Gurirab, Monis Omseb, Peter Shalulile, Joslin Kamatuka, Benson Shilongo and Junias Theophilus
