English Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed the South African striker Percy Tau completed a permanent move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

As reported to you by this website earlier today, Tau joined Al Ahly on “undisclosed terms” as Brighton also confirmed the mystery over the deal with the Cairo giants.

After joining the Seagulls in 2018 from Mamelodi Sundowns, Percy Tau had to go on loan spells with three Belgian clubs – Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, Club Brugge and Anderlecht – before returning to the club in January.

However, after his return to the Premier League club, his situation does not change as he just played 6 games with Brighton in 3 years while opening his goal account and only one weeks ago against Luton Town.

Speaking on Tau move, Brighton boss Graham Potter said : “I have really enjoyed working with Percy. He is very professional and extremely popular with the rest of the squad, but at this stage of his career he wants to be playing regularly and we fully understand that.

“This move gives him the opportunity to do that and he is joining one of Africa’s top clubs. On behalf of everyone at the club I wish him well for the future”, he told Brighton’s media department.
