Smouha president Farag Amer has confirmed their star striker Hossam Hassan has completed his move to Cairo giants Al Ahly. Howerver, the club is yet to officially announce the news.
It has been reportedly said on Thursday that Smouha’s all-time top scorer has agreed personal terms with Al Ahly. And he completed a medical in a turn of events.
Al Ahly’s arch-rivals Zamalek have been trying to sign the Egypt international on more than one occasion. But it looks like the Reds Eagles have snatched the signing from them.
“Hossam Hassan has joined Al Ahly.” Smouha president Farag Amer posted on Facebook.
”No one interfered at all, and no one spoke on signing Hossam Hassan for Al Ahly, except for Mahmoud El-Khatib [Al Ahly president], and with me directly and only once during a friendly session.
“The player’s desire and love for Al Ahly and the interest of Smouha and our respect for what he offered to Smouha of sincerity, and for my strong relationship with the player as his father, I agreed on the transfer in minutes.
“Everything that was said about the transfer details is inaccurate. But I will not go into it out of respect for our common desire in that. But it is not possible to be better than what we agreed on for the benefit of Egyptian sports and the two clubs.
“All the best to Hossam Hassan, and all the success to Mahmoud El-Khatib.” He added.
Hossam Hassan is Smouha’s all-time top scorer with 49 goals in 154 games. He netted nine in 15 games last season, before joining Libyan club Al Ahly Tripoli on a six-month loan, in which he guided to a second-place finish.

Hassan will become Al Ahly’s fourth summer signing after deals for Karim Fouad, Luís Miquissone, and Percy Tau.
He will compete for a spot in the starting XI with Egyptian Premier League top scorer Mohamed Sherif, which nears club exits for Marwan Mohsen and Walter Bwalya.
On the international level, Hassan has three caps to his name. And he was part of the Egypt team that qualified for the 2021 AFCON.
