Dieumerci Mbokani gave DR Congo the lead in the 23rd minute before Saimon Msuva grabbed the equalizer for Tanzania in the 36th minute.
The result will boost Tanzanian hope when they host Madagascar in their second Group J game on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mbakpa National Stadium.
