Ghana CK Akonnor on Ethiopia clash : “It’s a must win game”

Ghana Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor spoke to FIFA’s media department ahead of his team’s clash to Ethiopia tonight on matchday 1 of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars will start their qualifying campaign tonight against Ethiopia at Cape Coast stadium (19:00).

And their head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor wants nothing but all three points in order to kick off in style their journey.

“We need to start the qualifiers well, so this is a game we must win. Fortunately for us, we’re starting at home, but the fans will be expecting a big win from us”, CK Akonnor told FIFA.com

“We’re not going to leave anything to chance. We’re quite confident about our capabilities as a team, but it’s equally important to keep an eye on our opponents.

“We know how quick they are in the transition, how they like to play attractive possession football, and the cohesion they have as a result of most of the team playing in their domestic league.

“We’ll be ready for them. We need to take advantage and consolidate our gains. We’ll be aiming for the three points and a decent scoreline.”
