The Chipolopolo could not ask for more in their first match in these 2022 World Cup qualifiers as they defeated Mauritania 2-1 on Friday afternoon to claim all three points with Prince Mumba scoring the winning goal.
Beston Chambeshi’s men realised a good start to the game as their skipper and Brighton & Hove Albion star Enock Mwepu gave the lead to Zambia in the 10th minute.
That 1-0 scoreline remained unchanged until half-time before Prince Mumba’s winner in the second stanza in the 57th minute.

Amadou Niass’ reducer for Mauritania (69th minute) was not enough to power Corentin Martins’ side who lose the game 1-2 at home.
This win is a perfect start for Chipolopolo who will challenge North African side Tunisia on Tuesday, September 7.
Meanwhile, Mauritania will make a trip to Equatorial Guinea for their second game.
