Egypt Egypt Eliminated From Women’s Arab Cup After Heavy Defeat Against Jordan

Egypt Women’s National Team have been eliminated from the the Women’s Arab Cup after losing to Jordan in the semifinal.

Egypt currently host the first Arab Women’s Cup, taking place in Cairo between 24 August and 6 September.

The Pharaohs shared the same group with Sudan, Lebanon, and Tunisia. The Group B comprised of only Jordan, Algeria, and Palestine.

Egypt started their campaign with a humiliating 10-0 win against Sudan in the opening game. The match saw Nadine Ghazi score four goals.

Their second game was against Lebanon. And they were once again dominant throughout the full 90 minutes. They managed to secure a comfortable 4-0 win.

A 2-2 draw against the Carthage Eagles in the final group stage game meant that they finished on top of their group. And they booked a spot against Group B runners-up Jordan.

The Egyptians were no match for the Jordanians from the get go as they were trailing 2-1 by the half-time whistle. The latter kept extending their lead in the second period and went on to win 5-2.

Jordan will now face Tunisia in the final on 6 September, after they beat neighbors Algeria in the penalty shootouts.
