Premier League Romelu Lukaku : ‘Don’t compare me with Cristiano Ronaldo’

Belgium and Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku told the journalists not to compare him with Portugal and Manchester United super star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 28-year old goal had a stiff competition with CR7 during their time in Italy where he won the Scudetto with Inter Milan last season while the Portuguese ended the season being the top scorer.

Speaking to the media on Saturday night, the former Manchester United striker has been asked about comparisons with Ronaldo.

And Lukaku’s answer surprised the journalist as he told the latter not to compare with football’s all-time top scorer (785 goals).

“Don’t ever compare me to Cristiano Ronaldo, never”, Lukaku said during a press conference ahead of Belgium’s World Cup qualifier against Czech Republic on Sunday.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is, for me, in the top three best players in the history of football. I’m not going to rank him from first to third but he’s in there.

“What he has achieved in football today for players of my generation is something exceptional.

“I was lucky enough to play against him in Italy and now that he’s back in the Premier League, it’s all good for English football. “As for the rest, comparing statistics and all that, it’s useless”, he added.
