CK Akonnor would be living his last hours as the Ghana Black Stars head coach as his sacking is reportedly scheduled on Friday, September 10.

According to Ghanasoccernet reports, the 47-year old’s future will be among the subjects to be discussed by Ghana Football Association’s Executive members on Friday during their meeting.

GFA’s leaders including those who were part of the trip to Johannesburg where Black Stars lost to South Africa (0-1) earlier this week will vote to remove Charles Akonnor from his position.

The main reason of the coming decision is the fact that Black Stars’ qualification to the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup is in jeopardy after the South Africa defeat.

Several Ghanaians have been asking for his sacking since that loss to the Bafana Bafana including highly-rated journalist Gary Al-Smith who said Charles Kwablan Akonnor is no longer the man of the situation.

“Ghana coach CK Akonnor is a good friend, but I reckon for our sake, and his, he isn’t the man to lead to – or in – Qatar”, the England-based Ghanaian journalist wrote on his Twitter account.

CK Akonnor is said to have lose the control of the Black Stars' locker room.

Rumors claimed on Tuesday that former Zambia and Ivory Coast manager Hervé Renard would be his successor at the helm of the Ghana national team.

In addition, CK Akonnor has been appointed as Black Stars coach in December 2020 in replacement of James Kwesi Appiah.
