African players abroad Mane pips Salah to win Liverpool Goal of Month Award

Senegalese star Sadio Mane’s stunning strike has won Liverpool Goal of the Month August 2021 Award, pipping Mohamed Salah to the accolade.

Mane has earned the recognition for the goal he scored in the 2-0 win over Burnley at Anfield in the Premier League.

He scored the second goal after a fine free-flowing ball passing move that involved Virgil Van Dijk, Harvey Elliot and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Mane has shrugged off Salah who finished on second place followed by under-23 player Kaide Gordon’s goal in the game against Everton .

Salah’s effort in the win over Norwich City was nominated for the award alongside Roberto Firmino and Diego Jota’s goals they registered in the opening game and against Burnley.

Liverpool fans voted via the club’s website the goals which the five nominees registered in the Premier League games.

Mane and Salah were involved in their respective national teams games for the World Cup in the last week.

The Jurgen Klopp side has so far won two league games and drawn once to sit fifth on the log table with seven points.

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Sunday when they face Leeds United away.
