EFA have appointed Carlos Queiroz as the new Egypt national team manager following the departure of Hossam El-Badry. The latter who was in charge of the Pharaohs for nearly two years.

Several Egyptian household names are set to join the Portuguese manager’s coaching staff. They are namely legendary defender Wael Gomaa, Essam El-Hadary, Mohamed Shawky, Diaa El-Sayed and former Zamalek coach Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian FA had also revealed that unnamed foreign coach would join the backroom staff. And it appears that South African coach Roger De Sa will be the man for the job, according to Soccerladuma.

The report suggests that De Sa has already resigned from his position as coach of Cape Town All Stars to to take on his new role with the African giants. Queiroz and De Sa had previously worked together when the former was in charge of the South Africa national team between 2000 and 2002. And he helped the Bafana Bafana qualify for the World Cup finals.

De Sa’s latest managerial role was with South Africa’s Second Division side Cape Umoya United. But he might be remembered among Egyptian fans for his time with Orlando Pirates.

While at the helm of the Pirates, between 2012 and 2014, the 56-year-old guided them to the CAF Champions League final where they eventually lost to Al Ahly.

He also had successful spells with Wits University, Ajax Capetown, Maritzburg United and Platinum Stars.
