South Africa

South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has named a final 23-man squad to face Ethiopia twice next month for the matchday 3 and 4 of the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup qualifiers.

The Belgian manager reduced his squad after publishing a first provisional squad which comprised 34 players.

Now, they are 23 and the major absentee is new Al Ahly player Percy Tau as the Egyptian Premier League side refused to release him for national team duty.

Hugo Broos will have to made up his squad without his deputy captain to face Ethiopia on October 9. Bafana Bafana will host them back on October 11 for the second leg.

As a reminder, South Africa is on top of Group G after securing 4 points out of two games with a home win against Ghana Black Stars which led to their coach CK Akonnor sacking.
