Daily Mail has reported that former English international Peter Crouch has urged Liverpool to hand Mohamed Salah a bumper new deal and secure his long-term future. At the same time, though, the former Reds’ striker has suggested that the Egyptian forward has no need of joining Real Madrid, as there is no club better than Liverpool for him at the moment.

Salah has been a pivotal figure for Liverpool ever since he joined them in the summer of 2017. Over the last four years, the Egyptian international has been one of the most prolific forwards in all of Europe. And he has been the Merseyside club’s top scorer in each of the campaigns.
His fine form has continued at the onset of the 2021/22 season, with Salah garnering a tally of eight goals and two assists in eight appearances across all competitions. His progress has Liverpool, though, as often attracted the 29-year-old to some of the biggest clubs in the world.
In particular, Real Madrid have constantly been in pursuit of Salah, with recent reports claiming that Los Blancos have once again reignited their interest in him. Salah, though, has been urged by Peter Crouch to stay put at Liverpool, asserting that there is no club better for him right now than Liverpool.
“Real Madrid have been sniffing. But why would he go there? There isn’t a club on the planet he could join that is better than Liverpool at this stage. Hypothetically, if he goes elsewhere in the Premier League he’ll lose what he has built at Anfield.” The former Liverpool striker wrote in his Daily Mail column.
“There are no European destinations that are a no-brainer. Barcelona and Real are not the same. There are other factors with Paris Saint-Germain and the merits of Ligue 1. Anybody would want Salah. His relentlessness is incredible. No matter how Liverpool are playing, Salah scores. There is no doubt that he should be more revered.” He precised.
Crouch’s comments make some sense. But Liverpool will need to go deep into the UEFA Champions League if the former striker is to be vindicated in what he has said. Salah has been the leading light in their campaign in Europe so far. Most recently scoring a brace in their 5-1 win over FC Porto.

However, it remains to be seen if he commits his long-term future to Liverpool and snubs Real Madrid in the process.
