Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo sent him a message after his winner for the Red Devils against Villarreal on Wednesday night (2-1).
Without CR7, Man United would have drawn their second UEFA Champions League game yesterday after losing the first one to Young Boys (2-1).
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored when every hopes were dead in United’s camp in the dying minutes of the additional time (90+5) to help his team win at Old Trafford.

After the game, Rio Ferdinand who is a BT Sport pundit revealed that Ronaldo sent him a message after the game telling him he know he didn’t play well, but was sure he would score.
“He text me tonight saying ”I didn’t’ play well but I knew I’d score”, Ferdinand revealed during post-match analysis.
“That’s the belief that he has. The other players are feeding off it. It’s a great place to be.
“United’s performance today wasn’t great, it wasn’t at the level Ole wants it to be. But when you need a goal, a moment to galvanise the squad, the stadium, the fanbase, Cristiano Ronaldo steps up”, he added.
