Zimbabwean coach Kalisto Pasuwa has closed in on a third consecutive domestic league title with Malawi champions Nyasa Big Bullets to make it the seventh in his career on the bounce.
Bullets beat Kamuzu Barracks 3-0 away in Lilongwe where winger Mischeck Selemani, striker Hassan Kajoke and midfielder Chimwemwe Idana scored on Saturday afternoon.
Bullets took their tally to 59 points from 29 games with one game to go, their cause helped by the 2-0 loss of second-placed Silver Strikers to Moyale Barracks on the same afternoon.
Silver have 55 points from 29 games with one game to go and can no longer catch with Bullets who are marching towards their 14th league title.
In fact, third-placed Be Forward Wanderers can leapfrog Silver into second place if the Nomads win their remaining two games as they have 54 points from 28 games.
It is quite an achievement for Pasuwa who came to Malawi from Zimbabwe in 2018 with a big resume after having led Dynamos to four consecutive league titles between 2011 and 2014.
He built on that feat when he steered Bullets to back-to-back championships in 2018 and 2019, with the 2020 season being forfeited due to Covid-19.
It has been a rough and slippery terrain for Bullets but in Pasuwa, the Malawi league champions have a coach who knows how to negotiate such a run-in.
