Zimbabwe Ex-Sundowns striker Nyasha Mushekwi on fire in China

Former Zimbabwe’s Warriors striker Nyasha Mushekwi scored a brace to help his Chinese second-tier league side Zhejiang Greentown to a 4-1 win over hosts Nanjig City on Sunday.

The 34-year-old Zimbabwean scored in the 23rd and 30th minutes before he was substituted.

He was joined on the scoresheet by Wang Yang (43rd minute) and Gao Di (77th minute). Chu scored the hosts consolation in the 61st minute.

It was Mushekwi’s fourth brace of the season, taking his tally to 21 league goals in 26 matches of the Chinese League One.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker has now surpassed his previous best haul of 20 goals he registered while playing for Caps United in Zimbabwe in 2009.

Mushekwi established himself as a top-notch striker in South Africa at Mamelodi Sundowns between 2015 and 2016.

He went abroad to play for Oostende in Belgium then moved to Djurgardens FC in Sweden before relocating to China.

Zhejiang are third on the log table at par on 58 points from 26 games with second-placed Wuhan, who lie six points behind leaders Meizhou Hakka.

Surely, Zhejiang can sniff at promotion to the top-flight league whereas on the opposite end, Tians anchor the 18-member log table with eight points from 25 games.
