Fighting Chilemba to square up against Russian Silyagin in WBC bout

Malawian boxing star Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ Chilemba will face Russian Pavel Silyagin on November 5 2021 in Moscow in an international title fight.

Chilemba confirmed to Africa Top Sports that he will square up against Silyagin in a 12-round World Boxing Council world silver super middle weight bout.

The South Africa-based light heavyweight said the fight was scheduled for October 15 2021 but it was pushed forward due to some challenges.

I signed a contract for 15th October, and we just resigned it for November 5th. There is a problem with time to organise everything to make it happen in October, so they asked to extend time which is ok for me, gives me extra three weeks to push fitness to the maximum,” he said.

The 32-year-old is looking forward to a win in Russia where his last fight against WBA Gold super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov ended in a draw in February this year.

The Malawian hopes to build on the win he chalked in Greece in December 2019 when he defeated Alexander Kubich on unanimous points decision.

Chilemba is a former International Boxing Organisation Africa champion with 26 wins (10 TKO), seven losses (one TKO) and three draws.

Chilemba is also a former champion for the World Boxing Council International (light heavy weight) and NABF.

Silyagin, 28 years old, won his last fight against Azizbek Abdugofurov in a regional belt contest in March this year
