Nigeria Taiwo Awoniyi reveals secret behind his first Super Eagles call-up

Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi has opened up on his first call-up with Nigeria Super Eagles for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic.

The 24-year old has been in a fine forme since the start of the season with the Bundesliga side.

Awoniyi scored 5 goals in 7 league appearances while having 8 strikes to his names in 12 appearances across all competitions.

After being handed his first call-up by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr due to Terem Moffi’s injury, Taiwo Awoniyi said had to work very hard before achieving this drea of playing for Nigeria.

He also laid emphasis on the patience before the dream comes true.

“For me it’s every player’s dream,” Awoniyi told Brila FM.

“Every player will be happy to be part of the Super Eagles and in one of them. It’s a privilege and honour for me to be part of  the  team which I’m very happy about.

“It’s hard work and dedication but for me sometimes you work hard and don’t see the result but just keep on working be patient and God will do the rest. I’m very happy about it to be part of the Super Eagles”, he added.

In addition, Nigeria will host CAR on Thursday, October 7 before making a trip to Banjul three days later for the reverse fixture.
