FIFA World Cup E.Guinea beat 10-man Zambia to dash the visitors’ qualifying World Cup bid

Equatorial Guinea defeated 10-man Zambia 2-0 at the Estadio de Malabo on Thursday evening in a World Cup qualifier.

The visitors suffered a setback as early as the 25th minute when Prince Mumba received marching orders in the Group B match.

Some 10 minutes later, the hosts utilized on their numerical advantage to score in either half.

Conco scored in the 35th minute then Emilio Nsue added the second goal three minutes to full-time.

Equatorial took their tally to six points from three games while lying on second place, one point behind leaders Tunisia.

The Chipolopolo have three points whereas bottom-placed Mauritania have one point going into their away game against the Carthage Eagles.

Zambia caretaker coach Beston Chambeshi had named a strong starting XI that included Leicester City’s Patson Daka leading the attack.

Fashion Sakala was also back and played in the wings but they could not save Zambia from defeat.

Zambia were seeking to bounce back having lost 0-2 at home to Tunisia months ago in a previous encounter.

Zambia started the campaign with a 2-1 away win in Mauritania.
