FIFA World Cup Moting bags double: Lions roar past non-poisonous Mambas

Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo Moting bagged a double for Cameroon as they thrashed Mozambique’s Mambas 3-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Friday evening.

Karl Ekambi’s strike added to Moting’s goal at Japoma Stadium to leave bottom-placed Mozambique winless in three games that have yielded one point in Group D.

Moting scored the first goal for the hosts in the 29th minute then added the second in the 51st minute before Ekambi made it 3-0 13 minutes later.

Geny Catamo scored the consolation for Mozambique who finished the game with 10 men after Danilo Muze was shown a red card late in the game.

The Indomitable Lions have six points from three games, moving to within one point of group leaders Ivory Coast.

Mozambique are two points behind third-positioned Malawi who lost 3-0 to leaders Ivory Coast at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa on Friday afternoon.

Starting line-up:
